Basketball Recap: South Gibson Piles Up the Points Against Munford

Munford typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday South Gibson proved too difficult a challenge. They blew past the Munford Cougars 59-6. The Hornets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matches by 20 points or more this season.

Karson Dunn had a dynamite game for South Gibson, shooting 86% from the field on her way to 17 points. That's the most points Dunn has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ivy Cianciolo, who scored ten points and five steals.

South Gibson was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They are 26-4 when they've passed the ball that well.

South Gibson's victory bumped their record up to 27-8. As for Munford, they moved to 13-10 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, South Gibson will square off against Cocke County at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday. Cocke County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52 points per game this season. Munford does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
