Softball Recap: Centennial Eagles vs. Poolesville Falcons
It was a Battle of the Birds when Centennial challenged Poolesville on Monday. The Eagles walked away with an 8-3 win over the Falcons. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
Lauren Jensen made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Layla Schroyer was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Julia Braganca was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Centennial kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Centennial's victory bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Poolesville, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-3 record.
As of now, neither Centennial nor the Falcons have any future games scheduled.
