Softball Recap: Midway Green Wave vs. Lenoir City Panthers
Midway was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Lenoir City Panthers, falling 20-10. The Green Wave were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2022.
Chloe Jarnigan led a balanced group of hitters, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. Those hits marked the first that she got this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyker Johnston, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI and one stolen base.
Jarnigan wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Midway kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Midway's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Lenoir City, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-2.
Coming up, Midway will face off against Coalfield at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lenoir City, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Lenoir City Panthers duke it out with Oak Ridge Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
