Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Williams

Williams had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They walked away with a 10-6 win over the Needles Mustangs. That's more bragging rights for the Vikings, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Mario Pedraza was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Aiden Uebel was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Jack Dent, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Williams was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Needles only posted a batting average of .240.

Williams' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Needles, they moved to 9-6-1 with that loss, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Williams will face off against Page at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Needles, they will host Laughlin at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Needles is facing Laughlin at the right time seeing as Laughlin is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
