Recap: West Columbus Vikings vs. East Bladen Eagles

After losing to the East Bladen Eagles the last time they met, the West Columbus Vikings decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. West Columbus escaped with a win on Wednesday against the Eagles by the margin of a single free throw, 47-46.

Unique Kelly was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Triston Freeman, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.

West Columbus is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for East Bladen, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-9.

West Columbus will head out on the road to take on the Wolfpack at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Whiteville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Tuesday. As for East Bladen, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pender is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
