Basketball Recap: Benedictine Takes a Loss

Benedictine was the 55-44 winner over Steward when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Benedictine Cadets were just a bucket shy of victory on Monday and fell 53-52 to the Steward Spartans.

Steward had a senior duo take command as Xavier Nelson went 7-for-9 on his way to 17 points and seven rebounds and Donovan Richardson went 7-for-12 en route to 21 points and three steals. Richardson's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points.

Benedictine's loss dropped their record down to 10-17. As for Steward, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-6.

Benedictine has already played their next match (against Cape Henry Collegiate), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Steward, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 61-45 victory against Nansemond-Suffolk Academy on the 12th.
