Preview: San Luis Obispo Tigers vs. Templeton Eagles

San Luis Obispo has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge The Templeton Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

San Luis Obispo gave up the first points two weeks ago, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 38-28 victory over Santa Maria.

It was another big night for Isaiah Hernandez, who rushed for 248 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per carry. Hernandez hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for six straight games. Jace Gomes also helped out as he racked up 105 rushing yards.

Meanwhile, Templeton can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They really took it to Morro Bay for the full four quarters, racking up a 44-10 win at home. Templeton pushed the score to 37-10 by the end of the third, a deficit Morro Bay had little chance of recovering from.

Templeton can attribute much of their success to Wyatt Ramey, who rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown. Kolton Sobyra was in the mix too, providing Templeton with two touchdowns.

Templeton's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Morro Bay's QB won't forget Braden Mott anytime soon given Mott sacked him four times.

San Luis Obispo's win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.3 points per game. As for Templeton, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. San Luis Obispo has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 298.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Templeton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 230.3 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.

San Luis Obispo was able to grind out a solid win over Templeton when the teams last played back in October of 2022, winning 35-28. The rematch might be a little tougher for San Luis Obispo since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
