Soccer Game Preview: Central Wise vs. Richlands

The Central Wise Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Richlands Blue Tornado at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

While Central Wise's win against Gate City wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Warriors' defense stepped up to hand the Blue Devils a 1-0 shutout last Tuesday. The result kept Central Wise happy, as they haven't lost a game yet this season.

Meanwhile, Richlands had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 1-0 W against the Pioneers.

Central Wise's victory bumped their record up to 8-0-1. As for Richlands, their win bumped their record up to 4-7.

Everything went Central Wise's way against Richlands in their previous meeting back in April, as Central Wise made off with an 8-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
