Volleyball Recap: Richardson Eagles vs. Martin Warriors

Richardson and Martin squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Richardson had to settle for second. They came up short against the Martin Warriors, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2023.

Richardson took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-14, 25-21.

Mackenzie Ratcliff paced Richardson's offense, picking up nine kills. Ratcliff got some help from Mariajose Cordero and her 14 assists. Ratcliff was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Martin had a senior duo take command as Lauren Adams had 13 digs and two aces and Mckenzie Wright had seven digs and three aces. That's the most aces Wright has posted in her last seven matches.

Richardson has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-21 record this season. As for Martin, the victory (which was their 17th in a row) raised their record to 31-10.

Richardson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Martin, they will square off against Plano East on Thursday. Martin is looking to tack on another W to their eight-game streak on the road.
