Basketball Recap: Bryson Taylor's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mount Airy over South Stokes

Mount Airy lost against South Stokes back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mount Airy Granite Bears fell to the South Stokes Sauras 46-40. While losing is never fun, the Granite Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 420th, while the Sauras are ranked 90th).

Several Granite Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bryson Taylor, who posted five points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Ty Hemric, who put up eight points.

Mount Airy now has a losing record at 4-5. As for South Stokes, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Mount Airy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 76-57 win against Starmount on the 7th. As for South Stokes, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 78-29 victory against West Stokes on the 8th.
