Who's up and who's down

The power rankings have experienced a modest tune-up after last week's playoff battles. A special shoutout goes to East Central's senior Tony Brown, who scored eight total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.

Can't Touch This

East Central got a 70 - 32 win over South Pike last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Tony Brown. Brown rushed for 149 yards and eight touchdowns. That performance made Brown one of the best players in the power rankings last week.

No Stoppin 'Em

102. That was the combined point total for East Central and South Pike when they went head to head last week, and it set the benchmark for all power ranking teams. East Central picked up a decisive 'W' against South Pike, finishing up at 70 - 32. Even if it didn't bump East Central up the rankings, the win at least kept team from dropping.

Next Week's Big Game

If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Madison Central (4th in the power rankings) and Starkville (3rd). Both teams are entering with last-week wins under their belts. Of course, Madison Central and Starkville can't both win again this week, so we'll learn on Friday which team falters and which extends its success.
