Baseball Game Preview: Arnold Marlins vs. Holmes County Blue Devils

The Arnold Marlins will venture away from home to face off against the Holmes County Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Arnold proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by nine) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past Lincoln 3-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Mason Laymon and Carter Campbell did most of the damage at the plate: Laymon went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Campbell went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs Laymon has posted since back in April of 2025. Braxton Greve was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Holmes County gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They blew past Chipley 14-3. Winning may never get old, but the Blue Devils sure are getting used to it with their 13th in a row dating back to last season.

Holmes County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryant Mathis, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Arnold might still be hurting after the 9-1 defeat they got from Holmes County in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. Can the Marlins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
