Softball Recap: Pitman Comes Up Short

Pitman fell victim to Gregori and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Jaguars, falling 11-0. That's two games in a row now that the Pride have lost by exactly 11 runs.

Pitman got a good showing from Elyssa Alcazar, who pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Alcazar has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Pitman saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shelby Woods, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Woods is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played.

Pitman has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Gregori, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pitman will square off against Gustine at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Gregori, they will face off against Beyer at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jaguars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
