Hobart has gone a perfect 6-0 against Portage recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Brickies will square off against the Indians at 7:00 p.m. Hobart will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Hobart's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Hammond Central 19-0. The matchup marked the Brickies' most dominant win of the season.
Addisyn Johnson was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Addi Gaffin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Portage had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over the Pirates. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Indians considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Breanna Reed was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Savannah Riley was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.
Portage was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. They are 7-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Hobart's victory bumped their record up to 12-14. As for Portage, their win bumped their record up to 10-18.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hobart hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Portage struggles in that department as they've averaged .358. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
