Baseball Recap: Jefferson Davis Academy Find Success

Jefferson Davis Academy owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over the Edisto Cougars. This was a revenge game for the Raiders: when they faced off against the Cougars back in March, they had to take a 2-1 defeat.

Colson Loadholt made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Jefferson Davis Academy's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is undefeated (and 6-7 when he doesn't). Loadholt was also solid in the batter's box, earning one run and two stolen bases. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last four games he's played.

Loadholt wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Landen Williams, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. That's the most hits Williams has posted since back in March.

The win made it two in a row for Jefferson Davis Academy and bumps their season record up to 10-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Edisto, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season.

Jefferson Davis Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Lake Marion at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Raiders are facing the Gators at the right time seeing as the Gators are stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Edisto, they will be playing at home against Orangeburg-Wilkinson at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bruins will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight.
