Preview: South Grand Prairie vs. Lamar
South Grand Prairie is 7-0 against Lamar since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The South Grand Prairie Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Lamar Vikings at 6:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
South Grand Prairie scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 9-1 margin over Haltom. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 5-0.
In what's become a running theme this season, Lamar gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They never let Bowie onto the board and left with a 3-0 win. Given Lamar's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 207th, while Bowie is ranked 586th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
The victory made it two in a row for South Grand Prairie and bumps their season record up to 3-12-1. As for Lamar, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4-1 record this season.
South Grand Prairie took their win against Lamar in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 7-0. Will South Grand Prairie repeat their success, or does Lamar have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
