Soccer Game Preview: Spring Lake vs. Grand Haven

The Spring Lake Lakers will head out on the road to face off against the Grand Haven Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Wednesday, neither Spring Lake nor Zeeland West could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw.

Meanwhile, Grand Haven entered their tilt with Grandville on Thursday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. Their defense stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 2-0 shutout. That's two games straight that Grand Haven have won by exactly two goals.

Grand Haven's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three games. With that draw, Spring Lake's record moves to 8-5-2.

Spring Lake beat Grand Haven 2-0 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lakers since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
