Downingtown East extended their winning streak to five on Friday, bumping them up to 5-1. They blew past the East Vikings 51-26. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 25 points or more this season.

As for East, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-2. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while Downingtown East is ranked 31st).

East's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Chase Golden, who picked up 256 receiving yards and two TDs, and Logan Cummings, who threw for 370 yards and three touchdowns. Golden really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 80 yards.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Downingtown East will square off against Bayard Rustin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Knights' defense has only allowed 13.5 points per game this season, so the Cougars' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for East, they will face off against Oxford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings will need to watch out since the Hornets have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games.
