Baseball Recap: Richfield Comes Up Short

Richfield had lost six straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 6-16 to make it seven. They fell 5-2 to the Delta Rabbits. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Wildcats couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Delta, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.

For Delta's part, Mason Robinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits. Robinson has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Logan Thayne was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kyler Davies, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs.

Coming up, Richfield will face off against Manti at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Delta will be paying especially close attention to the Wildcats' game: after the Wildcats face off against the Templars, they'll take on Delta again at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
