Baseball Game Preview: Carpinteria Warriors vs. Santa Paula Cardinals

For the second straight game, Carpinteria will face off against Santa Paula. The Warriors will take on the Cardinals at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Carpinteria has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 7.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Carpinteria's offense. They fell 5-0 to Santa Paula on Wednesday.

For Santa Paula's part, not much got past Santiago Ramirez, who gave up just three hits to keep Carpinteria off the board. Ramirez also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Cardinals are 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Isaak Medina and Ruben Venegas did most of the damage at the plate: Medina went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Venegas went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base. That's the most hits Venegas has posted since back in February. Jacob Jasso also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Santa Paula has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Carpinteria, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
