Basketball Game Preview: Tri County Trojans vs. Sandy Creek Cougars

The Tri County Trojans will face off against the Sandy Creek Cougars at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Tri County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.5 points per game this season.

Tri County's tournament run continued when they took on Sutton on Tuesday. Tri County fell 57-49 to Sutton. The Trojans have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Tri County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Macey Gronemeyer went 7 for 12 en route to 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gronemeyer has scored all season. Isabelle Peters was another key player, putting up 12 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Sandy Creek ended up a good deal behind Thayer Central on Tuesday and lost 52-35.

Sandy Creek's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Tri County, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 12-7.

Tri County came up short against Sandy Creek in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 59-55. Can Tri County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
