Marion County comes up short despite Valencia Alridge's dominant performance

After a string of three wins, the Marion County Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Macon County by a score of 36-34. Marion County has not had much luck with Macon County recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Marion County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Valencia Alridge. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points along with four steals. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for her. Sage Davis was another key contributor, scoring ten points.

Macon County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Morgan Cochran, who scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Aliyah Lake, who scored seven points.

Marion County now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Macon County, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4.

Marion County will take on Chattahoochee County at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Chattahoochee County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Marion County likes a good challenge. As for Macon County, they will head out on the road to face off against Central at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 514th, while Macon County is ranked 244th).
