Basketball Recap: Champion Ellis Jr.'s Big Game Can't Quite Lead Jersey Village over Memorial

Jersey Village was the 60-48 winner over Memorial when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Jersey Village Falcons took a hard 66-51 fall against the Memorial Mustangs on Friday.

Jersey Village lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Champion Ellis Jr., who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Jones, who posted 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Jersey Village has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-19 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.6 points per game. As for Memorial, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-16.

Jersey Village will welcome Cypress Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cypress Creek will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Jersey Village surely won't give up without a fight. Memorial has already played their next contest (against Stratford), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
