Football Game Preview: Bellevue East Chieftains vs. Millard West Wildcats

The Bellevue East Chieftains will face off against the Millard West Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Bellevue East headed into their last game having not scored more than 13 points for four straight, but Omaha Northwest let them put that streak behind them. The Chieftains took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 42-0 win over the Huskies. The victory continues a trend for the Chieftains in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now won six in a row.

Owen Grieb had a dynamite game, picking up 82 receiving yards and three TDs. Jackson Henry made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Millard West, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand Grand Island a 17-0 shutout on Friday. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Wildcats were the (much) better team in the second half.

Millard West's defense made their presence known, laying out Evan Jones three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Ethan Amenyah, Rylee Jackson, and Blake Kozney, who each picked up one sack apiece. Kozney got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Bellevue East's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Millard West, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

Bellevue East took a serious blow against Millard West in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 56-3. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Chieftains were down 50-0.
