Baseball Game Preview: Sulphur Golden Tors vs. Central Wildcats

The Sulphur Golden Tors will venture away from home to challenge the Central Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Sulphur's last matchup with Dutchtown could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Tuesday. Sulphur lost 18-7 to Dutchtown. The Golden Tors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Central has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 2.69 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They came up short against Captain Shreve, falling 11-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Wildcats have suffered since February 10th.

With the loss, Central broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Sulphur, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Sulphur skirted past Central 3-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Will Sulphur repeat their success, or does Central have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
