Football Game Preview: Burke County Bears vs. Glenn Hills Spartans + How To Watch

Burke County is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Friday. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Glenn Hills Spartans at 7:30 p.m. Glenn Hills took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Burke County, who comes in off a win.

Two weeks ago, Burke County didn't have too much trouble with Northside as they won 28-14. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bears.

Sean Vandiver was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 53 yards, and also threw for 87 yards and one TD while completing 88.9% of his passes. What's more, he racked up 153.5 passer rating, the most he's had since back in November of 2024.

Another reason for the win was Burke County's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Sheldon Cunningham, Dexter Bynes, and Jaymeson Pierce, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Northside's side was Ronquavious Morris, who made seven total tackles (1.0 for loss) and snagged an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Glenn Hills was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by Salem and fell 41-0.

Glenn Hills' loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Burke County, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Everything came up roses for Burke County against Glenn Hills when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 51-12 win. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
