Soccer Game Preview: Fremont vs. Wilson Prep

The Fremont Tigers will square off against the Wilson Prep Golden Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Fremont knows how to get goals on the board -- the squad has finished with four goals or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Wilson Prep likes a good challenge.

Wilson Prep better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Fremont's game on Wednesday is any indication, that's when Fremont really gets things going. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 4-1 margin over Leadership Public Schools Richmond. Considering Fremont have won six matches by more than two goals this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Wilson Prep kept a clean sheet against Madison Park Academy on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Trojan-Warriors 1-0. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Wilson Prep were the better team in the second half.

Fremont has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-8-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 29 goals over those six contests. As for Wilson Prep, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 3-7.

Fremont beat Wilson Prep 2-0 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Golden Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
