Softball Recap: Jefferson Comes Up Short

Jefferson extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 6-9 in the process. They came up short against the Riverview Pirates, falling 12-0. The Bears were not able to make up for their loss to the Pirates from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

As for Riverview, their record is now 16-5-1. Considering they have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Riverview's part, Makayla Raymond was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. Raymond has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Riverview got a massive performance out of Ella Vinco, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Vinco has posted over her last 12 games. The team also got some help courtesy of Megan Southward, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Riverview beat Jefferson by a score of 17-6 later that day.
