Baseball Game Preview: Shadow Ridge Stallions vs. Douglas County Huskies

The Shadow Ridge Stallions will take on the Douglas County Huskies in a tournament on Saturday. Shadow Ridge is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.

Shadow Ridge's tournament run continued when they took on Denver South on Friday. The Stallions walked away with a 4-1 win over the Ravens.

Shadow Ridge gave Zack Coots the start and clearly made the right call: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Coots has posted since back in April of 2025. Clay Brown picked up the save, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Mason Manly was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. Emmitt Worthington was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Douglas County came up short against Apollo on Friday, falling 13-6.

Bricen Moore made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Gunner Gienger, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Douglas County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Shadow Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.
