Softball Recap: South View's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road

South View easily dispatched Lumberton last Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Tigers fell just short of the Purnell Swett Rams by a score of 9-7 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Tigers have suffered since March 18th.

JORDYNN PARNELL spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, MADDY CLARK made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of SAVANNA HARDEE, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

South View's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-4. As for Purnell Swett, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South View will welcome Gray's Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Purnell Swett, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Seventy-First at 6:00 p.m. The Rams are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
