Softball Recap: Lathrop Comes Up Short

Lathrop had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-8 to make it four. They lost 11-1 to the North Pole Patriots. The Malemutes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

North Pole's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-7. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

For North Pole's part, Jordi Darby was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Smith, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Lathrop will venture away from home to face off against West Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wolf Pack will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for North Pole, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Hutchison at 7:15 p.m.
