Softball Game Preview: Stringer Red Devils vs. Lumberton Panthers

For the second straight game, Stringer will face off against Lumberton. The Red Devils will take on the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Stringer will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Stringer is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over Lumberton.

For Lumberton's part, Carmen Walters was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She tossed seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Walters has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Natalie Griffith and Lindsey Abercrombie stepped up to the plate in a big way. Griffith went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Abercrombie went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Lumberton has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. As for Stringer, their win bumped their record up to 16-5-1.
