Softball Game Preview: Westlake Warriors vs. Eastlake Titans

The Westlake Warriors will face off against the Eastlake Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Westlake is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over Rancho Bernardo. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Warriors have posted since April 3rd.

Presley Watters spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Olivia Ziebell White, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Kira Palmer was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Eastlake waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Eagles.

Eastlake also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Addison Suriano gave up only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits.

On the hitting side, Rachel Del Busto was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Westlake has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 20-14 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Eastlake, their victory bumped their record up to 21-11-1.
