Recap: Simi Valley Pioneers vs. Bingham Miners

The Simi Valley Pioneers pushed their score all the way to 65 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 75-65 to Bingham. While losing is never fun, Simi Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 173rd in California, while Bingham is ranked 24th in Utah).

Loss or not, Simi Valley got some senior leadership from Ryder Mjoen who scored 30 points and Justin Rener who scored 25 points. The match was Mjoen's 19th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kyle Hoffer, who scored eight points along with six assists and five rebounds.

Bingham found their leader in underclassman Luke West, who scored 26 points along with eight rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which West has scored at least 25% of Bingham's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Cantwell, who scored 13 points.

Simi Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Bingham, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Simi Valley and Oak Park will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Bingham, they will head out on the road to face off against Davis at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Davis is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 62.2 points per game.
