Baseball Recap: Batesville Sets Scoring Season-High Against West Memphis

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Batesville). They blew past the West Memphis Blue Devils 16-2 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Pioneers in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now won six in a row.

Cole Bentz made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Batesville is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-5 otherwise. Bentz was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Dexter Chapman was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-3. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cale Glasgow, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

Batesville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Batesville's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for West Memphis, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-6.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Batesville beat the Blue Devils by a score of 13-2 later that day.
