Recap: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. Riverdale Ridge Ravens

The Roosevelt Roughriders pushed their score all the way to 56 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 79-56 walloping at the hands of Riverdale Ridge. While losing is never fun, Roosevelt can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 285th, while Riverdale Ridge is ranked 24th).

When it comes to explaining why Roosevelt lost, one person who can't be blamed is Seppe Salvatore. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Salvatore is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooks Reckard, who scored 11 points.

Riverdale Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Marcus Hinh led the charge by scoring 18 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Marcus D mcfadden, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.

Roosevelt has been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season. As for Riverdale Ridge, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roosevelt's road trip will continue as they head out to face Niwot at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. As for Riverdale Ridge, they will face off against Severance at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Severance is on a four-game streak of home wins, Riverdale Ridge a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
