Basketball Recap: Tampa Bay Tech Skates Past King with Ease

Tampa Bay Tech waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They really took it to the King Lions for the full four quarters, racking up a 52-22 victory. The Titans pushed the score to 43-20 by the end of the third, a deficit the Lions had little chance of recovering from.

Leading Tampa Bay Tech to victory were Milaya Chapman and Jenesis Walker. Chapman went 9 for 19 en route to 21 points in addition to seven steals and five boards, while Walker went 5 of 10 on her way to 17 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Chapman has scored at least a third of Tampa Bay Tech's points.

Tampa Bay Tech smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Despite the loss, King saw an underclassman step up: freshman Mariah Pinkney dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Heaven Pyfrom, who posted four points.

Tampa Bay Tech pushed their record up to 8-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.0 points per game. As for King, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Tampa Bay Tech didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 34-33 victory against Newsome on the 15th. King has also already played their next match, a 46-41 win against Blake on the 15th.
