Softball Game Preview: Skyline Grizzlies vs. Bonneville Bees

The Skyline Grizzlies will head out to face off against the Bonneville Bees at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

While Skyline didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Sugar-Salem 18-7 on Tuesday.

Skyline got a massive performance out of Bella Jensen, who scored four runs and stole six bases while going 4-for-5. Calla Jensen also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Skyline was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .543. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Bonneville got the win against Century on Monday by a conclusive 17-7. The victory continues a trend for the Bees in their matchups with the Diamondbacks: they've now won six in a row.

Alli Sutherland was a standout: she scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyvia Rudd, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Skyline has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Bonneville, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.

Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Skyline has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .527. However, it's not like Bonneville struggles in that department as they've averaged .484. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Everything went Skyline's way against Bonneville when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Skyline made off with a 17-5 win. Do the Grizzlies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bees turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
