Basketball Recap: Northwestern Area Comes Up Short

Northwestern Area has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. The matchup between the Northwestern Area Wildcats and the North Central Thunder didn't end well, with the Northwestern Area Wildcats falling 58-44. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their defeat to the Thunder from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Amree Vander Vorst was her usual excellent self, on her way to 29 points along with six boards and three steals for North Central. That makes it four consecutive games in which Vander Vorst has scored at least a third of North Central's points. Ella Batie was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds.

Northwestern Area's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for North Central, they pushed their record up to 12-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Northwestern Area has already played their next game, a 47-41 win against Herreid/Selby on the 18th. As for North Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 33-29 victory against Leola/Frederick on the 20th.
