Soccer Game Preview: Caldwell vs. Owyhee

The Caldwell Cougars will be taking part in a tournament against the Owyhee Storm at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Caldwell had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the four-goal drubbing they dealt Capital on Monday. The Cougars' defense stepped up to hand the Golden Eagles a 4-0 shutout. Given Caldwell's advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho soccer rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Capital are ranked 63rd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last match, Owyhee made sure to put some goals up on the board against Capital on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 4-0 margin over the Golden Eagles. The win continues a trend for Owyhee in their matchups with Capital: they've now won three in a row.

Owyhee hit Capital with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Camden Ellis-Pitkin, Ishaq Bisharat, Jordan Shupe, and Yanis Vendee.

Owyhee's victory bumped their record up to 11-4-1. As for Caldwell, their win bumped their record up to 10-4-2.

Caldwell came up short against Owyhee in their previous matchup back in September, falling 3-1. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
