Monroe Central and Union City are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. Blankley went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI, while Reichard went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Reichard has posted since back in April. Gabrielle Ordonez was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Union City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Union City is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Monroe Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-15.
Monroe Central's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's contest. The Golden Bears have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Union City, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Monroe Central continue to outrun the ball?
