Football Game Preview: East River Falcons vs. Matanzas Pirates

The East River Falcons will challenge the Matanzas Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. East River's defense has only allowed 9.9 points per game this season, so Matanzas' offense will have their work cut out for them.

East River's offense might be in the hot seat on Monday considering what happened against Horizon on Wednesday. They lost 21-0 to the Hawks. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 186th, while the Hawks are ranked 14th).

Meanwhile, Matanzas entered their tilt with Flagler Palm Coast on Tuesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Bulldogs 22-0. The Pirates not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 4th.

Matanzas pushed their record up to 9-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.0 points on average over those games. As for East River, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-5.
