Basketball Recap: Simpson Academy's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

Simpson Academy fought the good fight in their overtime game against Copiah Academy on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 77-71 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Colonels. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Colonels apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.

Having lost for the first time this season, Simpson Academy fell to 2-1. As for Copiah Academy, their win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1.

Looking ahead, Simpson Academy will host East Rankin Academy at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars will be up against the Patriots' rather soft defense (which has allowed 62.83 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Copiah Academy, they will square off against Parklane Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.
