Pleasant Grove has gone a perfect 10-0 against American Fork recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Vikings will face off against the Cavemen at 3:30 p.m. Pleasant Grove is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.6 runs per game this season.
Pleasant Grove is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Herriman just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 6-5.
Maya Parry made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Maile Larsen, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Meanwhile, American Fork owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Lone Peak 2-0. The win continues a trend for the Cavemen in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won three in a row.
Not much got past Mazie Walters, who gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Lone Peak off the board.
At the plate, Eleni Llsonbee was excellent, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one double. That double marked the first that she hit this season. Another player making a difference was Miah Walters, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Pleasant Grove's loss dropped their record down to 14-5. As for American Fork, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 8-9.
American Fork's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Pleasant Grove has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.6 hits per game. It's a different story for American Fork, though, as they've been averaging 10.8 hits. Given Pleasant Grove's sizable advantage in that area, the Cavemen will need to find a way to close that gap.
Pleasant Grove took their win against American Fork in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
