Basketball Recap: Muncie Burris Comes Up Short

It was a Battle of the Birds when Muncie Burris duked it out with Cambridge City Lincoln on Saturday. The Muncie Burris Owls took a blow against the Cambridge City Lincoln Golden Eagles, falling 90-50. The Owls have struggled against the Golden Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Muncie Burris saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Matthew Hardy posted nine points. Evan Bell also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Aidan Munchel was his usual excellent self, going 10 for 16 to rack up 25 points in addition to eight boards and five assists for Cambridge City Lincoln. The contest was Munchel's third in a row with at least 20 points. Ryne Sturgis was another key player, going 6 of 8 on his way to 18 points.

Muncie Burris' defeat dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Cambridge City Lincoln, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Muncie Burris will welcome Alexandria-Monroe at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cambridge City Lincoln, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hagerstown at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hagerstown is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.1 points per game this season.
