Softball Recap: Johnsonville Wins Going Away Against Lake City

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lake View, Johnsonville was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They blew past the Lake City Panthers 14-3. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Flashes this season.

Natalee Taylor made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Blair Coker, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Lawrimore, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Johnsonville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Johnsonville's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Lake City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.

Coming up, Johnsonville is taking a road trip to face off against East Clarendon at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolverines' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Flashes' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Lake City, they will host Atlantic Collegiate Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
