Basketball Recap: Springfield Drops Season-High Score on South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett]

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Springfield). They blew past the South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] Patriots 68-42 on Tuesday. With that victory, the Longhorns brought their scoring average up to 50.9 points per game.

Leading Springfield to victory were Cobi Mackey and Jersey Speck. Mackey posted 22 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists, while Speck dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. The matchup was Mackey's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Madison Varando was another key player, putting up eight points along with five boards and four steals.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Springfield was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

The win (which was Springfield's sixth in a row) raised their record to 11-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett], they dropped their record down to 7-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springfield will face off against Walsh at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Springfield knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Walsh likes a good challenge. South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] has already played their next contest (against Holly), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
