Baseball Game Preview: McEwen Warriors vs. Houston County Fighting Irish

For the second straight game, McEwen will face off against Houston County. The Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Fighting Irish at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. McEwen is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times McEwen and Houston County had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Warriors took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fighting Irish on Tuesday.

For Houston County's part, Connor Mahoney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 13 Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ryder Forrester, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brody Powell, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Houston County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

McEwen's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Houston County, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.
