Basketball Recap: Silver Creek Takes a Loss

Silver Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 57-50 to the Holy Family Tigers. The Raptors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Silver Creek still got an impressive performance from Luke Schmeeckle, who went 5 for 9 en route to 14 points. Another player making a difference was Gavin Gurung, who posted eight points.

Leading Holy Family to victory were Caleb Schott and Rocco Howes. Schott went 6 of 12 on his way to 21 points and six rebounds, while Howes had eight points and 14 boards. Those 21 points gave Schott a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Evans, who scored six points.

Silver Creek's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Holy Family, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Silver Creek wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 56-50 defeat against Fairview on the 21st. As for Holy Family, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-54 loss against Horizon on the 21st.
