After flying high against Lawrence County last Saturday, Loyd Star came back down to earth. The Hornets took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Lincoln Bears on Tuesday. The Hornets' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Mason Smith made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Loyd Star's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for West Lincoln, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 13-8.

Coming up, Loyd Star will take on Columbia at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. West Lincoln will be paying especially close attention to the Hornets' contest: after the Hornets faces off against the Wildcats, they'll take on West Lincoln again at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
